Attention, fellow aquaphiles!

Many of you know that I'm a fan of Rusty Pietrzak and his underwater fashion photography. It was his never-ending supply of creative underwater concepts that continues to inspire much of my own work today. Sadly, his work has become almost impossible to find - his company, Ark Productions, closed its doors in 2008, and he specifically requested that nobody re-circulate his photos or videos in his absence.

Regardless, he remains a major source of my own inspiration, and I'm currently attempting to learn more about him. I would love to be able to interview him, as well as a few of the models he worked with. I have reached out to him, but he's kind of hard to get a hold of. In any case, I know others in the aquaphile community loved his work too, so I'm interested in talking to his fans as well, to find out what it is about his work that they liked best. If anyone's willing to share their thoughts on Rusty, please don't hesitate to do so! :)

Yo, JB, I got a title you could use for a future pic - "Don't Try to Sing Underwater".

I already follow your other account and I've come to this one to ask a rather specific question. I'm starting to try my own hand at underwater drawings but the only problem is I don't really know how clothing works while suspended in that whole water weight deal. So may I ask where did you start learning how to draw underwater scenes?

Quite simply, I studied photo reference. As I've mentioned before, fashion photographer Rusty Pietrzak was a big influence on my art, as all his models were photographed underwater with all their clothes on (some examples: [link] [link] [link] [link] ).

Rusty's out of the business now, but another good source of inspiration is a guy who calls himself the Wet Kahuna, whose Splashin' in Fashion website deals with the exact same subject matter: [link] That oughta give you plenty of reference material! :)

I did, I just never finished it. I may end up digging it out and coloring it up one day, though - or I may just redraw it from scratch :)
